Wike Under Fire Over Alleged Secret Alliance with APC

Ehi Braimah, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Naira Times, has stated that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is playing a role in extending the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Braimah suggested that Wike has increasingly associated himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Breakfast Show on Friday, Braimah stated that politicians and the judiciary were undermining Nigeria's democratic institutions.

Braimah observed that Wike has persisted in causing instability within the PDP while keeping connections with the APC.

He expressed regret that the PDP has been in turmoil since the 2023 presidential election and has not taken action against members who have acted improperly.

Politicians pose the most significant threat to our democracy. Sadly, the judiciary is being leveraged as a collaborator in undermining and weakening democratic institutions substantially.

Now, let's talk about the PDP. Unfortunately, it has been in a state of crisis for as long as I can remember—ever since the last presidential election. It seems like an organization struggling to discipline its members; we often hear promises and declarations without much action. However, recently some members have started speaking out assertively, insisting that the convention must take place.

I believe that the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, has been a significant issue for the party. Unfortunately, they haven't managed to effectively manage him. I choose my words carefully on this matter. Occasionally, I encounter the FCT minister... Additionally, they have set conditions for holding the convention in November in Ibadan which seems unnecessary.

He suggested that there might be a deliberate strategy to undermine the PDP, allowing the ruling party, APC, to have an easy path in 2027. Wike could potentially be playing a part in this by being involved with both parties at once.

The reality is that he has a stronger affiliation with the APC than with the PDP. His actions and those of his associates seem aimed at creating ongoing turmoil within the party.

Braimah also expressed criticism towards Nigerian politicians in general, accusing them of being primarily self-interested.

"They are not helping our cause, as most politicians tend to be self-centered and selfish, focusing only on their own interests," he added.
