Today, I will speak to our Pastor Senator representing the fine people of Ondo North senatorial district in the language that he understands. Follow me to open the Book of 1 Samuel 18 : 7 which reads that, “As they danced, they sang; Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands”.
Above captures the laughable tale of two politicians that has played out on the sidelines of Ondo State politics as students resume classes for a new session this September. While our distinguished senator in his ‘genero-stingy’ supported 100 students with school bags and exercise books, the Chairman of Akure South Local Government has reportedly touched 10,000 students in a similar gesture.
What this translates to mean is that for every student ‘empowered’ by our senator, the LG Chairman of Akure South is correspondingly empowering one hundred. In Mathematics, we write such as Ratio 1:100. Most painful is that my senator was so excited that he called Tribune Newspapers to publish the news of the distribution of his 100 backpacks, and his media urchins have since over one week continued to hail him for what they describe as ‘students empowerment’. Ó mà ṣe ò. I am confident however that in Ondo North, our own David who will give us a paradigm shift from this drift and decay will soon come. Our kids are our future, somebody must stop embarrassing them.
I am not sure there’s any Senator worse than ours in the whole of the Nigerian National Assembly. Hence, I may stop comparing him with his mates and rather focus on matching his record with Local Government Chairmen’s because fortunately on the same day of his publication in Tribune, the Newspaper also reported the educational scholarship of Hon. Chinedu Ogah, a Reps Member from Ebonyi State who had just paid a sum of N600,000 for each of 172 students representing the 7th Batch beneficiaries of his scholarship. And he is training them through their six years of secondary education.
