The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, has called on the Federal Government to urgently release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to enable him access medical treatment.
In a video message on Thursday, Azuta-Mbata warned that Kanu’s continued detention without proper healthcare endangered his life and urged President Bola Tinubu to adopt a political solution. He also encouraged Igbos nationwide to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
His appeal comes amid growing concerns over Kanu’s health. Earlier this week, human rights lawyer Chief Malcolm Omirhobo also demanded Kanu’s immediate release, accusing the government of double standards for detaining him while offering peace deals to wanted bandit leaders.
