A Nigerian woman, Evelyn Nneka Obasi, has shared her perspective on why women married to wealthy or influential men rarely speak publicly about their marital challenges.
According to her, it is not necessarily because such marriages are flawless, but because these women have mastered the art of overlooking their husbands’ shortcomings, including infidelity.
Obasi suggested that this silence is a way of maintaining appearances and protecting their homes despite the flaws behind closed doors.
“To remain with an Odogwu, you must learn how to pretend you are not seeing things. There is a reason big men’s wives don’t rant on SM,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Who says the very big names you hear don’t have cockroaches in their cupboard? You also think their wives do not know? Have you seen where the wife of that man being dragged for rejecting a child who looks like him talk? Maybe in the future she would, but for now? She hasn’t. There is a lot for you to learn when you are with big men. You have to train yourself not to be random. Regina presently has learnt it. Other wives didn’t talk, because they know. As a newcomer, she was not informed. I am glad, she humbled herself and learnt. As long as he is not b*eating you or abusing you. Be ready to have a strong mind when with a “women’s man”. You go see things tire o.”
