Imo LGA Chairperson Rejects SDP Appointment, Demands Apology

The Acting Chairperson of Ihitte-Uboma Local Government Council in Imo State, Lolo Amaka Osunde, has demanded an unreserved apology from the State leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) over the inclusion of her name in the party’s Caretaker Committee list.

Osunde, who currently serves under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, was listed as the interim State Woman Leader of the SDP despite not being a member of the party.

In a press statement personally signed by her, Osunde described the development as “false and embarrassing,” stressing that at no point in her political career did she contemplate joining the SDP.

“I am still, and will continue to be, a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and I will continue to align myself with the 3R mantra of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma,” she said.

The council boss reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC, noting that she has no intention of leaving the party or joining any other platform. She added that her name was published without consultation, causing her “great pain and embarrassment.”

“I, therefore, demand an apology from the leadership of the SDP. Otherwise, my lawyers will be instructed to institute legal action against the party. The mischief makers behind this irresponsible act are warned to desist from further attempts to malign my name, as I will not hesitate to seek legal redress,” she warned.
