A Nigerian fresh graduate lost her N650,000 job after demanding a salary increase after four months.
The graduate was working as an executive assistant whose job was to respond to emails and schedule her employer’s day.
An X user @UnclePamilerin, who said the employer was his Canada-based friend, shared the story online.
The X post read:
My friend in Canada hired a fresh graduate in Nigeria (awaiting NYSC) as her executive assistant. The job was simple: respond to emails and help schedule her day. She worked 2 hours daily and earned ₦650k monthly.
After 4 months, she realized my friend was a “big deal.” Maybe she got bad advice, but she sent a mail asking for a salary increase. We ended the contract immediately. Now she’s asking if she can still keep working for the same pay. Are we wicked for saying no?
He added: Some people said the salary is not possible. When some EA earn $2k minimum.. 650k is less than 550 Canadian dollars ooo.
