Father and Daughter Graduate Same Day from UNICROSS

In an inspiring tale of determination and resilience, Mr. Saviour Asuquo, a 43-year-old father, has graduated from the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) on the same day as his daughter, Joyce Asuquo.

Mr. Asuquo, a former staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Calabar, and freelance cameraman with Channels Television, earned a degree in Mass Communication alongside his daughter during the institution’s recent convocation ceremony.

Speaking on his motivation, the proud father said he was determined to break a long-standing family barrier that had kept generations from attaining a university degree.

“I wanted to get a university degree because no one in my family has one,” he explained. “The determination to acquire a degree is like breaking a covenant that has held my family spellbound.”

Hailing from Ikot Eyo Edem Community in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, Mr. Asuquo said sharing the academic milestone with his daughter made the moment even more fulfilling.

Their joint achievement has since drawn admiration from the UNICROSS community and beyond, with many describing the father’s determination as a rare example of lifelong learning and parental inspiration.
