The Umuaka Asa community in Ukwa West LGA of Abia State has installed a shrine to deter criminals from vandalizing or stealing public property. Leaders said the move followed repeated thefts, including armoured cables from an electricity transformer donated by the NDDC.
Traditional Prime Minister Sampson Nwaigwe explained that the shrine was purely for security purposes and not meant to restrict Christians or people of other faiths from practicing their religion, dismissing media reports suggesting otherwise.
Community leaders further defended their monarch, Eze Sunday Nwogu, against allegations that he sold the donated transformer, describing the claims as false and politically motivated by those who opposed him during the traditional rulership contest.
