Anambra 2025: YPP’s Chukwuma Pledges to Restore Security in Ihiala

The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Sit Paul Chukwuma, has vowed to prioritize security in Ihiala Local Government Area if elected in the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

Speaking during a campaign tour of the area, Chukwuma decried what he described as years of abandonment by the state government, saying residents had been left at the mercy of criminals who have disrupted social and economic life in the LGA.

“Ihiala is an important LGA to Anambra State. Therefore, our first point of call after my swearing-in come March 2026, by the grace of God, will be to restore security in Ihiala and other parts of Anambra State,” he said.

Earlier, the YPP candidate visited some flashpoints in the council, promising to deploy a full complement of security measures to restore peace.

Meanwhile, his running mate, Uzu Okagbue, continued consultations with traditional rulers, paying homage to Igwe Peter Anukwu of Mbaukwu in Awka South LGA. Describing the monarch as a “foster father” of two decades, Okagbue extolled his wisdom, cultural knowledge, and enduring influence in Igboland.

He said Igwe Anukwu’s reign of over 50 years stood as a “testament to resilience, wisdom, and divine mandate,” adding that the monarch’s Ofala and Igu Aro festivals continue to attract younger rulers who look to him for guidance and authority.
