AAUA Students faculty President impeached over fund Embezzlement scandal

Fellow honorable members, stakeholders, and esteemed students of the Faculty of Science,

Following a thorough investigative process, deliberation, and reports by the parliamentary house, the Parliament House of the National Association of Science Students (NASS), AAUA Chapter, hereby informs the general public of the immediate impeachment of the sitting Faculty President, effective July 25, 2025, based on the following grievous offenses:

1. Embezzlement of Faculty Funds: Without parliamentary budgetary approval, the President embezzled several millions of Naira belonging to the Association over the past five months. Withdrawals were made without presenting any budget to the parliamentary house, which strictly requires legislative vetting and approvals before any disbursement of funds.

2. Withdrawal of Funds via Bank Cheques: In collusion with Emeritus Officers, the President engaged in unauthorized and untraceable financial transactions by consistently signing blank cheques. Despite these officers having completed their constitutional tenure, the President refused to initiate the constitutional change of signatory process, allowing Emeritus officers to retain control over the Association's account.

3. Abuse of Office and Breach of Public Trust: The President's actions demonstrate a clear breach of public trust, including deliberate concealment of financial activities, evasion of oversight, and alliance with Emeritus officials to bypass constitutional procedures.

Resolution and Directives from the Parliament House

In line with the powers vested in the Parliament by the NASS constitution, the following resolutions are hereby adopted:

1. Impeachment: The Faculty President is officially impeached and stripped of all privileges and titles, effective immediately, July 25, 2025.

2. Return of Properties: All properties, documents, official items, and assets belonging to the Faculty of Science currently in his possession must be returned to the NASS SRC Speaker on or before 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025.

3. Formal Report: A formal report shall be forwarded to the Faculty Dean, Faculty Sub-Dean, Faculty Staff Adviser, and relevant University Authorities for further investigation and possible sanctions against all implicated individuals.

4. Review of Internal Checks: The Parliament will review internal checks and financial protocols to prevent such breaches from reoccurring.
