Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State as the Tinubu Must Stay Movement intensifies its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defection was announced at Garun Gabas Ward in Malam Madori Local Government Area during the inauguration of a grassroots campaign office of the Tinubu Movement for Sustainable Governance Foundation, popularly known as the Tinubu Must Stay Movement.
The event was led by the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, who also serves as Chairman of the movement’s Board of Trustees and National Coordinator.
The defectors reportedly attributed their decision to what they described as development interventions and improvements in their communities under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking at the event, Abdullahi said the movement was expanding its grassroots activities to educate Nigerians about the Federal Government’s reforms and mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He highlighted interventions in education, agriculture, food security, national security, digital literacy and healthcare as areas of focus under the administration.
The NITDA director-general also announced plans to empower another 200 women in Garun Gabas Ward, following an earlier empowerment programme in Hadejia, where beneficiaries received financial assistance, sewing machines, bakery equipment and agricultural inputs.
The APC Chairman in Malam Madori Local Government Area, Alhaji Tanko Ahmad, commended Abdullahi for facilitating digital infrastructure projects in the area, particularly the Information and Communication Technology Development Centre at Government Secondary School, Garun Gabas.
The development adds to ongoing political mobilisation by supporters of President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
