According to a video posted on Arise News, Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, said he firmly rebuffed an attempt by Datti Baba-Ahmed to make him give up his seat during a 2023 peace accord signing event.
Sowore shared the account on Arise Prime Time while describing his personal interactions with opposition figures ahead of the last election.
Sowore said the seating arrangement at the event placed presidential candidates in a designated section, and that Baba-Ahmed, who ran as a vice presidential candidate under Peter Obi, attempted to have him vacate his position for the chairman of their political party.
Sowore said he refused, pointing out the difference in their standing as candidates at the event.
In his words, Omoyele Sowore said, "He was also fighting me to leave the place for the chairman of their party.
"I was like, you better just leave because I'm a presidential candidate, you're a vice presidential, you have no business here. So he was forced to go to the back," he said.
Sowore used the incident as part of a broader narrative questioning the conduct of some opposition figures, arguing that public positioning does not always match private behaviour.
He said the exchange occurred shortly before Obi and Tinubu both arrived at the event, setting the stage for further observations he later made about the relationships between the various candidates present that day.
During the interview, he also accused Peter Obi of being an Abacha boy, and Tinubu to be in the circle of Yar'adua, stating that all of them are the same.
