The Department of Physiology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, FUTA on Thursday August 27,2026 inaugurated a Centre for Excellence and Cardiopulmonary Physiology. While commissioning the project in company of other principal officers of the institution as well as staff and students of the College, the Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji expressed appreciation to the leadership of the college for the great initiative. She said "FUTA is really blessed, what the department is offering is beyond what we thought. This is walking the talk. I want to thank you all for this great deed. It is a demonstration that the giant in us has woken up."
Prof Oladiji who promised that management will continue to give it's support to every initiative of the leadership of the college for its growth expressed delight with the level of development and transition within the last few years. Oladiji restated, "I promise to further support any initiative that will enhance our services."
While noting that the facility is basically for research, the Vice Chancellor urged staff and students to take advantage of the facility for their health benefit. She also informed that the management has approve that every staff who is above age 60 will be privileged to use the facility for free once in a year. Her words, "We asked that people should please come. Anybody above 60 years in the university should please come do one for free every year. Every other person that is below 60 is not yet qualified including me.”
Earlier, ,the Dean School of Basic Medical Sciences , Professor Funmilola Omoya disclosed that the School named the Facility " The Professor Adenike Oladiji Centre for Excellence and Cardiopulmonary Physiology," in appreciation of the vice chancellor's support to the College of Health Sciences. Prof Omoya affirmed, “We are proud to be associated with the Vice Chancellor in the various ways she has contributed to the development of this College and in agreement with every member of this college, we are proud to name this Center after her."
On his part ,the Acting Provost College of Health Sciences FUTA , Professor Biodun Olagbuji was greatly delighted that the project has eventually become a reality as he equally commended the Vice Chancellor's interest in the college and support which also made all its achievements possible.
The inauguration of the new Physiology Building marks a significant milestone in the development of the institution’s academic and healthcare facilities.
The newly completed building is equipped with modern laboratories, classrooms, offices, and other essential facilities designed to provide a conducive environment for teaching, research, and practical training.
