The award-winning singer shared these reflections following the release of his sixth studio album, ORIADÉ.
During an interview on The Vibe Q, the Grammy-nominated artiste discussed how his experiences over the years have reshaped his mindset, priorities, and approach to both his professional and private life. He explained that maturity and life responsibilities have influenced the decisions he now makes, not only as a musician but also as a businessman and family man.
Davido revealed that he has become increasingly selective about the people he keeps around him. According to the singer, everyone within his close circle is expected to contribute meaningfully to his brand and career development. He noted that members of his team are encouraged to acquire valuable skills that strengthen his business operations, while friends who wish to remain close are expected to offer positive contributions rather than simply enjoy the privileges associated with his success.
The music star also identified his marriage to Chioma Adeleke and his responsibilities as a father as defining moments that have significantly transformed his lifestyle. He explained that raising a family has changed the atmosphere in his home, making him more cautious about who he allows into his personal space.
Reflecting on his creative process, Davido said his recording sessions are no longer as crowded or energetic as they were in the past. However, he said that phase of his life has come to an end because his current responsibilities demand a more peaceful and structured environment.
Speaking about the changes, Davido said, "Now I live with the kids and my wife. I can't have a hundred people in my house like before. Normally, recording in the studio is like a party vibe, but with this record, because of my situation, I can't have a hundred people at the crib."
