US condemns killing of Rev Dachomo’s Family Members, says violence against Christians alarming

WASHINGTON, United States – The United States has condemned the killing of members of the family of Plateau State cleric, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, describing the incident as horrific and deeply alarming.

The US Bureau of African Affairs, in a statement, expressed concern over continued violence targeting Christian communities and other vulnerable populations in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.

The US government extended condolences to the families of the victims and called for urgent action to strengthen security and protect vulnerable communities.

It also urged Nigerian authorities to ensure that those responsible for the killings are held accountable.

The statement said the United States remains committed to working with the Nigerian government and its partners to combat terrorism and violent extremism while ensuring that Christians and other Nigerians can freely practise their faith without fear of violence or persecution.

The condemnation comes amid growing international concern over insecurity and attacks in parts of Nigeria's Middle Belt, where communities have continued to face deadly violence.
