The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has dismissed as false and misleading reports linking the institution to a viral video allegedly showing a lecturer caught in an inappropriate act with a female student on campus.

According to the university, a thorough verification revealed that:

✅ The incident did not occur at UNIZIK.

✅ The man seen in the viral video is not a staff member of the university.

✅ No UNIZIK staff or student is connected to the incident.

In a statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Aloysius Attah, the university reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and stressed its zero-tolerance policy for any form of student exploitation.

UNIZIK also condemned the spread of unverified information, warning that misinformation driven by the race for online traffic can seriously damage the reputation of individuals and institutions.

The university urged journalists, media organisations, bloggers, and social media users to verify facts before publication and called on those who shared the false reports to retract and correct them.

📌 The incident circulating online has no connection with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, according to the institution.
