Ukraine launched one of its largest overnight drone att@cks on Russian territory, striking logistics warehouses in the Moscow and Tambov regions as the war between the two countries continues to escalate.
Russian authorities said seven night-shift workers were k!lled after drones hit a Wildberries logistics centre in the Tambov region, while another person later died in hospital following a separate strike in the Moscow region. Nearly 60 people were reportedly injured, with fires breaking out at warehouses and damage also reported at an oil depot and an empty kindergarten.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the targeted warehouses were being used to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment, describing them as legitimate military targets as part of Ukraine's long-range campaign against Russian military infrastructure.
The attacks come amid Ukraine's intensified strikes on Russia's energy sector, which have reportedly contributed to fuel shortages across many regions. Reports indicate that almost 90% of Russian regions have experienced fuel supply disruptions since June, with long queues forming at petrol stations despite Russia's status as one of the world's largest oil producers.
Russian officials claimed that more than 370 Ukrainian drones were launched toward the Moscow region overnight, while Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said nearly 1,900 drones targeting the capital had been intercepted over the past week.
Meanwhile, Russia continued its own attacks on Ukraine. Strikes on the Black Sea port city of Odesa reportedly k!lled one person and injured 13 others.
The latest exchange underscores the continued escalation of long-range att@cks by both sides, even as frontline fighting remains largely at a stalemate and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have shown little progress.
