Actor Akah Nnani has called on Nigerian political leaders to take greater responsibility for the country's education system, arguing that real change will only come when those in power are directly affected by its failures.
Speaking on The Morayo Show, Akah said Nigerians must hold their leaders accountable and demand more from elected officials. He suggested that lawmakers should pass a law requiring that the children of politicians be educated in Nigeria.
He said many citizens wrongly believe that politicians genuinely care about public institutions, stressing that until the system begins to affect them personally, little will improve.
"We think that these politicians care about us. They don't. And they're not going to make it better until it begins to pinch them. Their children can't be going abroad, and then our public schools are going bad," he said.
He urged Nigerians to actively engage their representatives in the Senate and House of Representatives, insisting that citizens must clearly communicate their expectations.
