Oluwatobi Aruwajoye: Olokunbobade Family Honours Matriarch At Centenary during 27th Annual Reunion

As members of the Olokunbobade Family converged in Dallas, Texas for the 27th Annual Family Reunion, a prominent member of the family Oluwatobi Aruwajoye has described the milestone as a celebration of faith, resilience and the power of unity.

In his personal congratulatory message to the family, Oluwatobi Aruwajoye said the 27-year journey reflects the Olokunbobade commitment to preserving heritage while embracing generational growth.

“Reaching 27 years of gathering together as one family is a remarkable milestone that reflects our unwavering commitment to unity, our rich heritage, and the preservation of a legacy we are all proud to call our own,” he stated.

He commended the second generation for sustaining and expanding the reunion tradition.
“It is especially inspiring to witness the torch being successfully passed to the second generation, whose dedication, innovation, and leadership have taken the Olokunbobade name beyond our homeland and onto the global stage,” Aruwajoye noted.

The 2026 reunion was also marked with prayers and remembrance for the family matriarch, Ogunmolayemi, 100 years after her passing on December 9, 1926, alongside other departed family members.

“As we celebrate this joyous occasion, let us also honour those whose sacrifices laid the foundation for all we enjoy today,” Aruwajoye said. “This year marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of our revered mother, Ogunmolayemi. May her remarkable life and enduring legacy continue to inspire us and generations yet unborn.”

The family reaffirmed its roots at 15, 17, and 19 Imola Street, Owo, describing the address as the birthplace of the Olokunbobade legacy. Aruwajoye charged members to ensure their progress across the world benefits the Owo community.

“May we never forget our roots. As our family continues to flourish across continents, may we remain united in purpose and ensure that our success positively impacts the community from which our story began,” he said.

He prayed for “peace, divine protection, good health, prosperity, and many more successful reunions” for every branch of the Olokunbobade family.

The annual gathering, which continues to attract descendants from Nigeria and the diaspora, featured a thanksgiving service, cultural performances and networking sessions.
