According to a recent interview on Channels Television TV, Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, has expressed confidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will contest the 2027 presidential election and emerge victorious.
Speaking during an interview, Okonkwo dismissed concerns that legal disputes surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could prevent the opposition coalition from participating in the next general election.
According to him, "Atiku Abubakar is going to contest 2027 and he'll be the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria."
Okonkwo said recent court rulings involving the ADC had strengthened the coalition's position, arguing that disputes over a political party's leadership are internal matters that courts lack jurisdiction to determine.
He maintained that the opposition had undertaken extensive legal due diligence before adopting the ADC as its platform, insisting that all necessary constitutional procedures were followed.
The former Labour Party presidential campaign spokesman also accused the ruling party of attempting to weaken the opposition through litigation, but said those efforts had failed.
He argued that the only way to unseat the ruling party in 2027 was for opposition parties and leaders to remain united under a common platform.
Okonkwo warned that any opposition leader or political party that refused to join the coalition would only reduce its own chances of electoral success.
He further described Atiku as an experienced leader with a clear vision for national unity, security, economic prosperity, education, healthcare and restructuring.
According to him, effective leadership would be the key to implementing those objectives if Atiku wins the presidency in 2027.
Okonkwo concluded by expressing confidence that the coalition remained focused on its preparations for the election and would overcome any legal or political challenges ahead of the polls.
