Residents and subjects of Badagry Kingdom on Saturday night welcomed the newly installed Baala of Badagry Kingdom, High Chief Surajudeen Ajao Fadeyi, Ajiyon I, as he emerged from a nine-day traditional seclusion.

High Chief Ajiyon I emerged at midnight on Saturday, July 25, 2026, and was received by a large gathering of subjects, residents and well-wishers who witnessed his formal return to public life.

The emergence marked the commencement of his public functions as the Baala of Badagry Kingdom and a White Cap Chief of the historic kingdom.

Following his emergence, the new Baala visited the palaces of fellow White Cap Chiefs and Whedah shrines across the kingdom as part of the traditional activities associated with his return from seclusion.

Among those spotted during the traditional visits was the White Capped Chief Mobee of Boekoh, Badagry, who joined other traditional leaders and stakeholders in receiving the newly emerged Baala.

He was accompanied by a large number of subjects and residents who joined in welcoming him as he assumed his new traditional responsibilities.

The event was described as a significant moment in the traditional institution of Badagry Kingdom, with residents turning out to witness the emergence of the newly installed chief.

Earlier on Wednesday, June 10, High Chief Fadeyi received his Certificate of Appointment from the Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, officially confirming his appointment as the Baala of Badagry Kingdom.

The installation process included nine days of traditional seclusion, during which traditional and spiritual rites were performed in accordance with the customs guiding the chieftaincy institution.
