"Husband is not my breakthrough, I'm praying for money" — Nigerian lady tells mum to stop praying for a husband

A young Nigerian lady has gone viral after revealing that she asked her mother to stop including "a good husband" in her prayers for her, insisting that marriage is not her definition of success.

In a video shared online, the lady said she recently told her mother to focus on praying for her financial breakthrough instead of asking God to send her a husband.

“So me, I just told my mom today that if she’s praying for me, she should not be adding husband as one of the things I need from God. How can you be saying that you’re asking God for breakthrough and you’re telling God that God should give me a good husband? Husband is not breakthrough,” she said.

She recalled that while living in Lagos, her mother frequently asked if she had found someone who would eventually pay her bride price.

The lady said she later travelled to her village, joking that perhaps her mother would have better luck finding her a husband there.

“I’m here now for about three days now. My mother has not been able to find any man for me. So what I cannot get for myself, you cannot get it for me,” she added.

According to her, her current focus is making money and achieving financial independence, not getting married.

“Please, husband is not one of my breakthrough prayers. No be wetin I dey find, I dey find money,” she said.

She added that she would only consider marriage if she met a partner who genuinely supported her without later using his financial assistance against her.

The video has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many social media users debating whether financial success or marriage should be considered a greater life priority.
