A Catholic priest has reacted to a viral video showing members of a church in Sapele, Delta State, passionately praying against an owl that flew into their church premises during a Sunday service.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 13, when the owl unexpectedly entered the church compound. Congregants caught the bird and brought it before their pastor, who immediately began praying fervently over it.
The video has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many discussing the long-held belief among some Christians that owls are associated with ev!l and misfortune. In some cases, such birds are reportedly k!lled after being captured.
Reacting to the trending clip, Catholic priest Fr. Kelvin Ugwu questioned why many Christians continue to associate owls with supernatural ev!l despite modern education.
‘’What can we do to stop many churches and Christians in Nigeria to stop demonizing Owls? How can presumed educated people act like this?''
