Princess Chineke, the Nigerian actress who traded the screen for the service, is making her mark in the United States Army.
Since enlisting, Chineke has shown dedication, discipline, and patriotism. She recently returned from a mission led by fellow Nigerian-American officers Captain Afonja and Executive Officer Lieutenant Olatunji. "Nigeria all the way," she says proudly.
Chineke, a former Nollywood actress and beauty queen who once represented her state at the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, made history as the first known Nigerian actress to join the U.S. Army.
Her résumé reflects a woman of many parts: a Computer Science graduate, former Miss UNIBEN, a one-time broadcaster with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, and a trained actress from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. She also runs an NGO, Voice Initiative, which has supported students at her alma mater.
Reflecting on her journey, Chineke describes Army life as deeply humbling.
"It keeps you in touch with reality. No matter who you are or how comfortable your life was, you go through the rough patches with everyone. It strips away entitlement. Living in the forest made me appreciate water, sunlight, dry shelter, a warm meal, and even the stars."
Chineke and her team continue to fly Nigeria's flag high, serving with excellence and pride.
