The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) has intensified its grassroots engagement by sensitising vocational skills students in the IBA Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on its business loan opportunities and entrepreneurship support programmes.
The sensitisation session, held on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at the IBA LCDA Secretariat Hall, formed part of the activities commemorating the 2026 World Youth Skills Day, organised by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and the IBA LCDA Branch. The celebration was themed “Skills for a Shared Future.”
The event brought together over 100 participants, including vocational trainees, entrepreneurs, youth leaders, and skills coordinators, to promote the importance of equipping young people with relevant technical, digital, artificial intelligence (AI), and life skills required to succeed in today’s dynamic economy.
Dignitaries present included Hon. Princess Alli Adedoyin Deborah, Special Adviser to the Executive Chairman of IBA LCDA on Wealth Creation and Comrade Taiwo Ismaila, Youth Coordinator, among others. Speakers encouraged participants to leverage skills acquisition as a pathway to employment, wealth creation, and sustainable entrepreneurship.
Representing LSETF, Local Officers Olajide Lukmon and Onwuatuelo Josephine delivered engaging presentations on the Fund’s loan products, eligibility requirements, application process, and the financing opportunities available to skilled entrepreneurs and business owners across Lagos State.
The interactive session generated significant interest among participants, with many seeking further clarification on accessing the Fund’s financial support. In response, the Skills Principal Coordinator pledged to mobilise graduates of previous vocational training programmes to participate in the upcoming LSETF loan application drive scheduled for 22nd July, 2026, at IBA LCDA
Speaking on the importance of the sensitisation programme, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Mrs. Feyisayo Alayande reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to empowering Lagos residents with access to finance and business support.
“At LSETF, we recognise that skills become truly impactful when they are matched with access to opportunities. Through our loan programmes and business support initiatives, we remain committed to helping skilled entrepreneurs transform their talents into thriving enterprises, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of Lagos State’s economy.”
The sensitisation exercise underscores LSETF’s continued commitment to deepening financial inclusion, supporting entrepreneurship, and ensuring that more skilled Lagos residents have access to affordable financing needed to start, sustain, and expand their businesses.
As the Fund continues to partner with communities and stakeholders across the state, it remains focused on driving inclusive economic growth and creating sustainable employment opportunities for Lagosians.
