Popular Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has responded to fans' repeated assertions that he is underappreciated in the film industry.
In a recent interview with Akin Abolade, the actor claimed that he disagrees with such sentiments, stating that given his educational background, he believes he has accomplished far more than he ever dreamed.
Chatta claims he did not complete formal education and does not even have an O-level diploma.
When comparing himself to some of his industry peers, the actor expressed gratitude for how far he has come in his life and work.Primary and Secondary Schooling (K-12)
He said: “…if we are to judge by formal education, I think I, Ibrahim Chatta, should be opening gates for people like Actor Femi Adebayo and Actor Odunlade Adekola and the rest because I didn’t go to any school. In fact, I don’t even have O-level.”
The actor added that he feels uncomfortable when people call him underappreciated since he views his success as a blessing rather than something he takes for granted.
He added: “So I am always annoyed when people say I am underrated. I think I don’t even deserve all what I have got, it’s the grace of God that I am enjoying and I am not taking it for granted.”
Despite disagreeing with the "underrated" label, Chatta noted that many admirers use the term just to express their love and appreciation for him.
He also disclosed that professors and graduates now use his work, which he describes as a blessing.
“I have so many employees that are graduates, professors using my work, so why should I be tagged underrated? Though I know it’s the love some of my fans have towards me that makes them say such a lot,” he said.
