Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has cautioned members of the public against disclosing sensitive information about the movement of security personnel, warning that such actions put the lives of troops at risk and undermine counterterrorism efforts.
The Governor stated that the recent ambush on soldiers by bandits was made possible through information leaked by informants within the public.
He gave the warning during a visit to three soldiers injured in the attack, noting that some individuals provide critical information to criminals, thereby aiding such deadly operations.
According to him, such acts amount to sabotage, stressing that security operatives continue to make huge sacrifices daily to keep the country safe.
Governor AbdulRazaq visited the injured soldiers at a medical facility, where he was received by the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, Sobi, Brigadier General Nicholas Nemetne Rume, and the Chief Medical Director, Professor Abdullah Dasilva Yussuf.
He also expressed condolences to the families of the three soldiers who lost their lives in the ambush and announced a donation of N20 million to each of the bereaved families, totaling N60 million, as immediate support pending further intervention from the Ministry of Defence.
In addition, the Governor approved N5 million each for the three injured soldiers to support their treatment and recovery.
“We are here to visit the soldiers who were ambushed by bandits. Unfortunately, we lost three of them, while three others are receiving treatment,” he said.
“We pray for them and support the families of those who died. We appreciate their selfless service to the state and the nation.”
Governor AbdulRazaq reiterated the need for collective responsibility in addressing insecurity, urging citizens to support security agencies and avoid actions that could compromise their operations.
He emphasized that the sacrifices of security personnel reflect the dangers they face daily in protecting lives and property, calling for continued public cooperation in the fight against banditry and terrorism.
