“Eberechi Eze Truly Loves Nigeria” ~ Why He Didn’t Play for Super Eagles

Former NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, has explained why Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze never played for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

According to Pinnick, Eze was very close to choosing Nigeria. In 2017, the Super Eagles invited him for a friendly match, but the game was later cancelled, so he was never officially listed.

Pinnick said talks continued for years. He even met Eze, his father, and his sister (who manages him) in London. Documents were prepared, and everything was going well.

However, changes in leadership at the Nigeria Football Federation delayed the process. Soon after, Pinnick left office, and the move failed.
Despite now playing for England, Pinnick insists Eze has love for Nigeria and truly wanted to represent the country at the time.

Eze has since played several matches for England and scored goals for the Three Lions.
