According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Monday January 12, 2026, Bola Oyebamiji, All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, has declared that neither he nor his party faces any serious challenger ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election, describing the contest as already tilted in favour of the APC.
He made this assertion during an interactive engagement with youths of the party in Osogbo, where issues surrounding mobilisation, party structure, and electoral strength were discussed.
The APC governorship candidate spoke at the youth-focused meeting organised by the office of the Osun APC Youth Leader, using the platform to encourage young party members to increase their engagement at the grassroots level.
He stressed that sustained mobilisation and unity within the party were key priorities as preparations for the 2026 election continue across the state.
Oyebamiji explained that internal assessments carried out by the party showed a strong advantage for the APC when voting patterns from the last governorship election were reviewed.
He said the analysis provided insight into voter behaviour and highlighted areas where the party intends to strengthen its outreach, particularly among young voters who form a significant portion of the electorate.
According to him, the findings from the 2022 governorship election indicated that youths played a decisive role in the party’s performance at the polls.
He noted that data obtained from the election showed that young voters accounted for a large share of the votes recorded by the APC, reinforcing the importance of youth participation in future electoral contests.
Oyebamiji stated that the party’s review of the previous election outcomes confirmed that youths delivered about 210,000 votes out of the over 300,000 votes secured by the APC statewide, a development he said underscores the strategic importance of young people in shaping electoral results.

The APC candidate urged party youths to remain committed to voter mobilisation and party-building activities, emphasizing that their role extends beyond voting to include community engagement and political advocacy.

Oyebamiji further reminded party members that the August 2026 election would require disciplined coordination and consistent outreach to voters.
He maintained that the APC’s strategy is focused on consolidating existing support while expanding its base, with youth mobilisation identified as a central component of the party’s preparation for the governorship poll.
