Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded significant successes in sustained offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists across Borno State.
Under Operation DESERT SANITY V, intense military pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on January 10, 2026, compelled 11 terrorist fighters to surrender to troops. The surrendered terrorists laid down their arms, handing over AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.
A day earlier, on January 9, troops carried out extensive clearance operations within the Bulaagalda cluster, destroying several active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile. Among those dismantled were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps. During the operation, troops destroyed life-support structures, degraded terrorist logistics, and recovered terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.
Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced fleeing terrorists to abandon additional logistics facilities, which were subsequently destroyed by troops. Weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun were also recovered during the operations.
In another operation based on credible intelligence, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements operating between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles.
Meanwhile, troops arrested two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying logistics to the terrorists.
The military said troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive pressure, dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East region.
The operations were disclosed in a statement issued on January 11, 2026, by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI.
