Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, should have shown more wisdom after returning to office following the end of the state of emergency.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Fayose said a second chance in leadership is meant to make a person better. He shared his own experience, saying he was once removed as governor and went into exile, but returned as a better leader.
Fayose also said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not like ingratitude, just like many other people.
He dismissed claims that the Rivers situation is “politics taken too far,” stressing that the Constitution clearly guides how politicians should act. According to him, politicians only seek public sympathy when they go against the rules.
“The return of Governor Fubara should have made him better. If you make a mistake the first time, you are not expected to repeat it,” Fayose said.
He added that politics is about power and responsibility, noting that Fubara is the one enjoying the office of governor, not the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Fayose also explained that the Rivers political crisis is not about President Tinubu’s election, saying both Wike and Fubara will work for Tinubu before Rivers State’s own election takes place.
