A Nigerian lady, Blessing Ahuoyiza, has stirred reactions online after sharing an Ebira traditional wedding engagement list given to her uncle by his wife-to-be’s family.
The list, which outlines cultural requirements expected from the groom’s family before marriage, quickly caught the attention of social media users.
Wedding List Raises Eyebrows Online
According to Blessing, the engagement list was handed to her uncle as part of the traditional marriage process.
She noted that many of the items appeared expensive and overwhelming.
Reacting to the list, she wrote online, “Dear Some Ebira people, Make una take it easy na,” a comment that immediately triggered reactions from Nigerians.
Cultural Expectations Before Marriage
The engagement list reportedly contains several items traditionally required by the bride’s family ahead of the wedding ceremony.
While such lists are common across many Nigerian cultures, the cost and quantity of items on this particular list have raised concerns about affordability.
