Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that only President Bola Tinubu has the authority to remove him from office, responding to critics calling for his dismissal.
Wike made the remarks during a thank-you visit to Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, where he addressed supporters, party leaders, traditional rulers, women, and youths. He stressed that his position remains secure as long as the President values his contributions, dismissing suggestions that critics or opposition voices could dictate his fate.
The Minister emphasised that politics is driven by interests rather than emotions, urging Nigerians not to be distracted by calls for his removal. He reaffirmed his pride in his work as FCT Minister, highlighting achievements that have benefited Rivers State and the nation, and expressed gratitude to his supporters for their loyalty.
Wike’s statement comes amid rising political tensions in Rivers State, highlighting his confidence in his political standing and the central role of the President in determining his tenure.
