Commuters across Anambra State are facing transportation challenges after transport fares surged sharply, leaving many stranded and struggling to afford daily travel costs.
The sudden increase in bus and taxi fares has affected students, workers, traders, and residents who rely on public transport for their daily activities. Many passengers expressed frustration, saying the new fares have made everyday commuting more expensive and difficult.
Some commuters said they now have to walk long distances or find alternative means because they cannot afford the inflated charges. Others complained that the fare hikes were implemented without prior notice or justification.
Transport unions in the state cited rising fuel prices and operational costs as reasons for the increase, but many residents argue that the surge is too steep and places an additional burden on already strained household budgets.
