Bandits Kill Two BDC Operators in Sokoto Market


Bandits have reportedly ambushed and killed two Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in a busy market area in Sokoto State, in an attack that has heightened fear among traders and residents.

According to witnesses, the assailants struck in broad daylight, targeting the victims as they conducted their business inside the market. The attackers reportedly fled immediately after the attack, leaving the victims critically injured. Both men later succumbed to their injuries before help could arrive.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among local business owners, with many traders describing the attack as brazen and unsettling, coming amid growing insecurity in parts of the state. Community leaders have called on security agencies to step up patrols and ensure the safety of markets and commercial hubs.

Security officials in Sokoto confirmed that preliminary investigations have begun and that efforts are underway to track down those responsible. They urged residents to remain calm and to provide any information that could assist in the probe.
