Florida — Drivers on I-95 were sent into panic Monday evening when a Beechcraft 55 aircraft suddenly plunged toward the roadway and collided with a Toyota Camry in the middle of peak traffic.
The dramatic dashcam video shows the plane skimming dangerously low, clipping the rear of the Camry, then bouncing off its roof before crashing down beside it in a burst of sparks and debris.
Investigators say the pilot had reported engine failure moments before attempting the risky emergency landing on the congested highway at about 5:45 p.m.
In a stunning stroke of luck, the 57-year-old woman driving the Camry survived with only minor injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Even more unbelievable, both the 27-year-old pilot and his passenger walked away totally unhurt. The pair, whose identities have not yet been released, remained on site as state troopers examined the wreckage.
Witness Jim Coffey described the moment with disbelief: “One second the sky was clear — the next, a plane just fell right onto the road.”
Officials are still working to determine the cause of the sudden engine failure. Updates expected soon.
