Owo Youth Festival 2025: Meet Dr Abiola Oshodi


Dr. Abiola Oshodi is a distinguished Nigerian psychiatrist, philanthropist, and politician, renowned for his contributions to mental health, education, and community development. 

Born on October 2, 1971, in Lagos, Nigeria, he grew up in Owo, Ondo State, where he was instilled with strong moral values by his parents, Chief Owolabi Oshodi and Mrs. Helen Modupe Oshodi.

Dr. Oshodi's educational journey reflects his intellectual rigor and dedication to excellence. He initially studied Geology at the University of Ibadan (1988-1990) before switching to Medicine at the University of Benin (1990-1998). 

He later specialized in psychiatry, completing his postgraduate training at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland (2003-2007). Further advancing his expertise, Dr. Oshodi obtained a Canadian Psychiatry Fellowship in 2014, and he currently serves as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in Canada, where he continues to impact mental health research and practice.

In addition to his medical career, Dr. Oshodi is a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. 

He is the CEO of Dr. Oshodi Specialist Services, the Dr. Abiola Oshodi Foundation, and Triple A&T Farm in Owo, organizations through which he advances healthcare, education, and economic development. 


His foundation has notably awarded scholarships and bursaries to over 500 students, demonstrating his commitment to human capital development and educational empowerment, particularly in his hometown of Owo.

Dr. Oshodi's work extends beyond medicine and philanthropy into public service and politics, reflecting his dedication to societal progress. His career embodies a rare combination of professional excellence, humanitarian service, and visionary leadership, making him a role model both within Nigeria and internationally.
