Osun APC Primary: My Disqualification Is a Joke and Embarrassing ~ Omisore

Former APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, has strongly criticized his disqualification from the Osun State APC governorship primary, calling it a joke and embarrassing.

Speaking on Arise Television, Omisore said political parties have limits when it comes to disqualifying candidates, adding that the Electoral Act does not give parties full control over candidate nominations.

Omisore and six other aspirants were barred from the December 13 APC primary over alleged problems with their nomination documents. Others affected include Babatunde Oralusi, Oyedotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Benedict Alabi, Adegoke Okiki, and Senator Babajide Omoworare.

Reacting, Omisore said the APC lost the 2022 Osun governorship election because of mistakes made by the former administration. He noted that a review panel after the election blamed some government officials for the loss.

He accused former Governor Gboyega Oyetola of trying to impose a candidate linked to that defeat and warned that the party must avoid repeating old mistakes if it wants to win in 2026.

Omisore also said President Bola Tinubu should not be dragged into the matter, stressing that the President has been fair to all.
