The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has publicly dismissed the lineage claim submitted by Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1), declaring his documentation for the Awujale succession “null, void, and of no consequence.”
In a letter dated December 11, 2025, the ruling house stated that after thorough investigation, it found no evidence linking the musician to the Jadiara Royal House or the broader Fusengbuwa lineage, whose turn it is to produce the next Awujale of Ijebu land.
Signed by Chairman Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, the letter also faulted the certification of KWAM 1’s lineage form, noting that it was endorsed by Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, whom the ruling house insisted is not a recognised member of the Jadiara Royal House.
The house further questioned irregularities in the application timeline — pointing out that the endorsement was dated December 8, while KWAM 1 signed the form two days later, on December 10, describing the process as “presigned.”
The statement was firm:
“Our extensive investigation has not revealed any proof of your membership of the Jadiara Royal House or indeed that of Fusengbuwa Ruling House.”
It emphasized that Oduneye had “no locus standi” to certify lineage documents and therefore had no authority to validate the musician’s claim.
The ruling house concluded unequivocally:
“Your claim to the membership of Fusengbuwa Ruling House is rejected and the completed form is of no consequence.”
A major twist in the highly anticipated Awujale selection process — and a development that has already stirred intense public conversation.
