‎“I Was Misled” — Tinubu Reverses ADC’s Brigadier General Promotion After Backlash

‎President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has cancelled the controversial promotion of his Aide-de-Camp, Col. Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf, to Brigadier General, following intense backlash within the Nigerian Army.

‎Sources say the move sparked outrage among officers who felt it bypassed due process and threatened morale. After high-level consultations with military authorities, the President reversed the decision.

‎A senior military source revealed:
‎> “The Commander-in-Chief was misled, but he did the needful. The armed forces are relieved.”

‎The reversal reportedly came hours before the decoration ceremony, which had already been planned and invitations sent. Tinubu was also said to have listened to interventions from senior retired officers, including a former COAS.

‎The Chief of Army Staff was summoned from Lagos to Abuja to brief the President on growing discontent within the ranks, prompting swift action.

‎Beyond the promotion saga, the Presidency is now reviewing the structure and ranks within the President’s security detail amid fresh concerns over appointments and hierarchy.
‎For now, the reversal has restored calm, but questions over promotion standards and military protocol remain.
