A well-known Lagos street beggar, nicknamed the Lekki Street Boy, has shocked many Nigerians after revealing that he spends a staggering amount of money daily just to gain access to wealthy celebrities and influential individuals.
According to him, begging in affluent areas is a high-budget hustle. He disclosed that he sometimes spends over ₦250k to even enter the same spaces as the rich.
In his words:
“Do you know how much I spend just to beg every day? Yesterday alone, I spent ₦250k. I wanted to beg someone inside a club, so I had to buy a shot of Azul for ₦70k — and I bought three. Sometimes I spend up to ₦400k just to get access.
I dey spend this much to meet celebrities. I spend people salary just because I want to meet celebrities and beg. You think na poor man begging I dey do?”
His shocking revelation has triggered massive conversations online — while some people mocked him for spending more than he earns, others believe it shows the extreme measures some Lagos hustlers take in their quest for survival and recognition in Nigeria’s nightlife.
