The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved the sum of ₦15,181,751,398.54 for the full reconstruction of the strategic Ifaki–Esure–Ilomu–Eyio–Awo–Igede Ekiti Road, a major corridor linking several communities and facilitating economic activities across the state.
The approval was granted during the Council’s meeting held on Thursday, 11 December 2025.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Rt Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun, explained that the decision, amongst others, reflects the unwavering commitment of the Biodun Oyebanji administration to delivering durable road infrastructure that enhances mobility, stimulates commerce and promotes inclusive development.
Olatunbosun noted that the road, which serves as a vital link between densely populated communities, has deteriorated over the years, causing hardship to residents, farmers, transporters and business owners.
The reconstruction, he said, will greatly ease vehicular movement, open up adjoining settlements and accelerate socio-economic growth within the axis.
The contract for the reconstruction has been awarded to Messrs CCECC Nigeria Limited, a reputable engineering and construction firm. As part of the approved terms, the contractor will receive 60 percent of the contract sum as mobilization fee, subject to the submission of an acceptable Advance Payment Guarantee or Insurance Bond.
The project is expected to be completed within 24 months, during which the government assures that quality standards, transparency and accountability will be strictly upheld.
The Commissioner reaffirmed that the road project is one of several ongoing interventions under the Oyebanji administration aimed at modernizing Ekiti’s infrastructure landscape and improving the daily experience of residents across all communities.
