A Concerned Ekiti Parent , identified on social media as Boluwaji Akinyede, has publicly expressed his distress regarding an abrupt and unanticipated rise in tuition fees at his children's school, a reputable private school in Ado Ekiti.
The dissatisfied parent detailed that the school implemented the fee increase without adequate consultation, justification, or direct prior communication, a step he characterized as an unlawful method of extracting money from families.
He further revealed that the annual Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings have been discontinued and eliminated, while the school has persistently raised its fees since that time.
"PTA meetings have been abolished. The sole forum for parental input has disappeared. Management has closed off feedback channels and eliminated transparency.
“ Decisions are now imposed from above with an expectation of parental silence. This action demonstrates an avoidance of accountability."
"Parents are entitled to direct communication. Parents are entitled to explanations supported by evidence. Parents deserve involvement before financial decisions are finalized," he stated.
This grievance follows closely after another renowned private school in Ado Ekiti raised its tuition fees, a development many parents find distressing and troubling.
Government attention has now been directed toward this issue to oversee private school operators and establish a standardized fee framework, alongside appeals for public intervention as the situation continues to escalate.
