DHQ Orders Immediate Removal of Unauthorized Roadblocks Nationwide

The Defence Headquarters (DHHQ) has ordered the immediate dismantling of all unauthorized and non-essential roadblocks across major Nigerian highways. In a memo dated December 5 and signed by Brigadier General A. Rabiu “for CDS”, the DHQ warned that the growing spread of unapproved checkpoints is hurting operational efficiency, disrupting civilian and military movement, and exposing troops to avoidable risks.

🚧 Affected routes include:
 • Abuja–Lokoja–Ajaokuta–Idah–Otukpa–Obollo Afor–Enugu
 • Abuja–Lokoja–Obajana–Kabba–Omuo–Ekiti–Ikole Ekiti
 • Abuja–Lokoja–Okene–Okpella–Auchi–Benin
 • Abuja–Kaduna–Kano
 • Lagos–Ore–Benin–Asaba–Niger Bridge

Commanders have been directed to enforce only approved control points and shift to mobile, intelligence-led operations, including aggressive patrols and improved human intelligence gathering.

The directive comes amid heightened public concerns about insecurity and the effectiveness of existing road security measures.
