AFCON 2025: Fulham coach worried as three Super Eagles stars Leave Club

Fulham head coach, Marco Silva, has shared his concern over the departure of three key players ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The players Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze were included in Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad announced by head coach Eric Chelle on Thursday.

The trio are expected to be away from Fulham for about one month if Nigeria reach the final of the tournament. AFCON 2025 will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Silva admitted that losing the three players will affect the team, as they have been very important this season. He described them as regular starters who have made strong contributions to Fulham’s performances.

According to the Fulham boss, Iwobi has been excellent in different positions, Bassey has been solid in defence, while Chukwueze has impressed in recent matches.

He added that the club will now have to look for solutions to cope with their absence during the tournament.
