Founder of the Omnipotence Mission of God, Pastor Oloruntimilehin Daramola, has urged Christians to seek traditional fortification as bandit attacks on churches continue to rise across Nigeria.
In a viral message, Pastor Daramola stressed that his call is not about carrying guns or abandoning faith, but a necessary step for self-defense in the absence of licensed arms for citizens.
According to him, “We cannot fold our arms while bandits invade churches and kill worshippers. Even the Bible says, ‘My people perish for lack of knowledge.’”
He explained that some fortifications could prevent bullets from penetrating or cause confusion among attackers before they strike. He emphasized that he is not advocating idolatry, but a proactive measure to protect God’s people.
The cleric also called for stronger security measures nationwide — including state policing, better funding of security agencies, and proper prosecution of arrested bandits — warning that continued softness on criminals will only fuel further violence.
Daramola further joined the growing call for the Federal Government to permit responsible citizens to bear arms for self-defense, noting that criminals would rethink their actions if potential victims were able to fight back.
As insecurity persists, he insists that protecting places of worship must become a collective effort: “I refuse to allow my members to become victims.”
