Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has asked the Federal Government to focus on recruiting soldiers and police officers from places with high insecurity and posting them to work in their own states.
Sani shared this on his verified X page on Wednesday. He said security officers understand their home areas better, and this will help in the fight against bandits and terrorists.
He also encouraged government to give these officers proper training and modern equipment so they can perform well.
His statement comes at a time when Nigeria is facing many security problems, including the kidnapping of schoolchildren in different parts of the country.
Sani said, “To fight bandits and terrorists, government should recruit more military and police officers from the regions with serious insecurity. They should be trained, equipped and deployed to their home states because they know the terrain better than anyone.”
