Ondo: Owo LG Flags off Social Welfare gu89Allowance for 300 Elderly People

 
The Acting Chairman of Owo Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Hammed, has flagged off the social welfare allowance for elderly people in Owo Local Government.

Hon. Ibrahim Hammed, while inaugurating the programme at the Council’s Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday, disclosed that no fewer than 300 beneficiaries have been selected for the programme, which is part of government efforts to cater for the welfare of elderly citizens.

“The Owo Local Government, under our administration, the All Progressives Congress (APC), with our amiable Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is dedicated to promoting dignity, compassion, and inclusion.

“This social welfare support, an initiative of our amiable Governor, will help alleviate financial burdens and provide relief to our senior citizens. We will continue to improve this programme and ensure that it reaches those who truly need it,” he said.

Hon. Ibrahim Hammed also emphasised the importance of the social welfare programme adding that it is a commitment to care for the aged people who have laboured in the past.

“Today is not just another government event; it is a demonstration of our commitment to care for those who have cared for us in times past,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Olagunju Sikirat expressed her joy and commended the government for prioritising the welfare of elderly people in Owo.

The Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) in Owo Local Government, Mr. Taiwo Aladesuyi, disclosed that each of the 300 beneficiaries will receive ₦20,000 monthly allowance, alongside ₦60,000 in arrears for August, September, and October, to be paid immediately.

Other government officials and political leaders at the flag-off ceremony include members of the Owo Local Government Legislative House led by Hon. Adebayo Adedoyin Adeyefa; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Olarenwaju Oladimeji; Chairman, Owo South LCDA, Hon. Lawanson Shehu; and executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo, led by the Chairman, Hon. Samuel Balogun.
