The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olukayode 'Dewunmi Akinyemi, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University, a private institution located in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
According to a statement by the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the appointment is effective immediately, noting that Prof. Akinyemi is a seasoned scholar and a renowned expert in Solid Earth Physics/Geophysics. He added that Prof. Akinyemi currently chairs FUNAAB’s Employability and Benchmarking Committee, and he is a Fellow of the Indian Society of Earth Sciences, as well as a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Physics, including a member of the American Geophysical Union.
Mr. Olajide stressed that Prof. Akinyemi’s elevation adds to the growing list of FUNAAB scholars taking up leadership positions in Nigerian universities. In recent times, Prof. Flora Tobolayefa Oluwafemi became Vice-Chancellor of the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State; Prof. Mufutau Olaoye Atayese was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI); while Prof. Adekojo Waheed recently emerged as Vice-Chancellor of the British Canadian University (BCU), Calabar.
