Fayose Blames PDP Leaders, Not Tinubu, for Party Crisis

Former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose has slammed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership, saying the party’s turmoil is self-inflicted and absolving President Bola Tinubu of any blame.

Speaking on Channels TV, Fayose described the PDP as “dead” and dismissed claims that defections of Bayelsa’s Douye Diri and Enugu’s Peter Mbah were influenced by the presidency. He said the exits were driven by personal political ambitions.

Fayose warned that three more governors are poised to leave, leaving only five in the party, and predicted further divisions among those who remain. He blamed PDP’s decline on internal power struggles and leaders prioritizing personal control over unity.

“The PDP is sick, and those who killed it know themselves,” he said, noting the party’s woes predate recent defections.
